Kate Eveling
Kate was previously a health leader on Cystic-Fibrosis.com.
Kate Eveling was diagnosed with cystic fibrosis at the age of 2 after her weight declined because the food wasn’t being absorbed properly and it would go straight through her! Her lucky parents had to deal with a lot of pooey nappies for two years before they found out why!
Growing up Kate would always hide her cystic fibrosis from many of her friends and classmates for the fear of being bullied and judged. Her mental health started to plummet and eventually, she sought counseling. This was when she realized there was a way for her to open up publicly about her CF and this was through creativity. She started writing a blog about her experiences, and her view from the other side. This quickly transformed into creating videos for YouTube.
And for the first time in her life, she didn’t feel scared or apprehensive to talk about CF openly. She felt excited! She realized she could use her CF as a creative lightsaber instead of a weapon of self-destruction.
Kate, now 26, loves to make videos to not only raise awareness but also lighten the situation as much as possible and hopefully make people feel a little less alone, and a little more connected.
