  1. "I'm having issues with my port drawing blood but it flushes fine. I started having this issue three weeks ago when I got discharged from the hospital to go home on IV antibiotics and since then I have changed the needle once at home, given it a break for two weeks after finishing IV antibiotics and even tried having my CF nurse administer Cath-Flo (TPN) in the port with no success. Has anyone else had this issue with their port? What did you do to get it working again?"

    1. Ports can be wonderful when they are working properly. Flushing with saline or heparin after each infusion helps prevent the catheter from getting clogged, but it sounds like that hasn't been enough to keep yours working. Ports require maintenance to keep the areas around them clean and germ-free, and it looks like your nurse is on top of that. Does your medical team have any suggestions? All the best, Kathy (Team member)

    2. Hi,
So my medical team set me up with an appointment with Interventional Radiology so they can have a look at my port. I'm hoping they can find out what is going on and get my port working again.
