Carriers pain, cramping, gas, and constipation diarrhoea kidneys and duct inflamation

My elderly parent in the family with CF ( but has never been tested for carrier status ) As I understand it CF carriers, especially the elderly pancreas do not produce enough bicarbonate to neutralize stomach acid in every person with CF and some as elderly carriers. This also contributes to pain, cramping, gas, and constipation diarrhoea kidneys as she does in the hospital now

Has your family elderly had any experience should she be tested for cf carrier related status

  1. My mother who we knew was a carrier had a bunch of pancreas issues. She had chronic pancreatitis, non alcohol related. She had chronic pain with gas and diarrhea all the time. They even tried putting her on enzymes like the ones I take. I'm not sure what caused all of it because she's not around anymore but I do hope that helps to know that. My mom wasn't elderly she was in her 60s.
