CF Carrier

Hi, I’m a CF carrier, I found out 5 years ago when attempting to donate some eggs! I have since had 2 children, no1 (boy) not a CF carrier but no2 (girl) is. I’m trying to find information on symptoms that carriers can sometimes have! My little girl is 21months today and all her life she’s had gastro problems, we were told, egg, dairy, gluten intolerances for a long time but I remain unconvinced. She has had mucous in her stools for as long as I remember and is currently on day 12 of a gastroenteritis bug, she’s vomiting every night and it’s full of mucous, no GP’s seem concerned as she’s drinking and not dehydrated! Every stool is loose and again full of mucous! Her nose has ran continuously for months and she often has a gravelly throat! It’s 1am, I feel like I’m clutching at straws but you can imagine how worried and exhausted we are! Please, if anyone has any experience may you please reply?

Thank you for taking the time to read this.

  1. Hi , I can understand where your frustration is coming from – I would be frustrated too. I would try and get a second opinion or take her to a CF clinic for more information. I feel awful she's not feeling well and I'm sure you do too.

If possible, please keep us updated with how she's feeling. Sending love! - Sarah, Cystic-Fibrosis.com Team Member

    1. Thank you for responding, that’s very kind of you. I’ll certainly look into that. It appears all the sickness may of upset her oesophagus and had brought on some toddler reflux. Lost count at how many nights in a row she’s been sick now. Thank you again for the advice. It’s a wonderful community here! 💛

      1. Ugh, that's so awful. I hope she feels better soon and that you're both able to get some sleep. Thanks for being part of the community – we're always here if you want to chat or vent. Best wishes, Sarah, Cystic-Fibrosis.com Team Member
