Disability

Have you applied for disability? What was the process like for you?

  1. It's a very long and detailed process with a lot of paperwork and steps to complete. It can be quite overwhelming at first! It took about 6 months to apply and hear back.

There 's a wonderful disability lawyer who has CF herself who works with the CF Foundation that helps people apply for disability. I highly recommend anyone thinking about applying for disability to reach out to her office.

    1. When i first applied for SSI , it took me numerous times , I was denied four times. I had to get an attorney who. specialized in cases like ours. You have to go through a lengthy process , but if you cant work due to your illness this can really help you out. If you are denied , don't give up , because the more you keep trying , you will eventually get it. And you can get retroactive SSI going back to when you first applied. You have to have all your evidence proving your disability. Make sure however: that SSI doesn't send you to one of thier doctor's they work for SSI against you, not for you.
