told no to lung transplantation

I am a 57 year old woman , who was first diagnoised at the age of 26 with a form of CF Bronchiectasis, w/ immotile cilla dyskenesia. Now that i am older This condition has worsened. I have asked my pulmonologist about lung transplantation. He had told me no due to my age the bacterail colonization of Psuedomonas and my CAD. I have felt that he considered no other option for me. I understand that in order to have this done that you must meet certain criteria. But to just brush me off that way. I am considering a secon opion

  1. It's important to have a supportive cf care team. If you are looking to find a team in your area, you can enter your zip code on this CFF link, https://apps.cff.org/ccd/. This may be a good way to find a doctor for that second opinion. Please keep us posted!

    1. unfortunately Lynne one of the places that i go to for my pulmomonary care is one of the ones mentioned. And , the other wont take my Insurance. I will keep trying in Eugene , but I dont know if they will see me since I complained about a puulmonologist who was very insensitive to me. He thankfully left the clinic where i had been seen.

      1. I have just recently posted another response to this. I am ineligible for transplantation due to my CAD. I cannot have any other underlying conditons. It means that i no longer have anymore options. I am facing my passing with alot of saddness . I was just hopeing for a second change and now that is gone.

        1. , I just wanted to check in to see how you're doing today. I can imagine receiving the news that you're ineligible for a transplant has been incredibly difficult for you and your loved ones. Did your pulmonologist give you any other options? Don't lose hope! We're all here to support you. Sending you the biggest hugs! - Sarah, Cystic-Fibrosis.com Team Member
