Co parenting

Does anyone have any advice on co parenting with a baby with cf? I think she’ll have to live mainly with me as I am her primary care giver anyways n the dad lives three hours away

  1. Hi,
Welcome! I have no advice but sympathize with how complicated that could get. I hope someone will chime in and offer their experience. Warmly, Janeil (cystic-fibrosis.com Team Member)

    1. I would have to agree. She would probably have to live with you and dad have visitation. I have a 6 year old step daughter with CF who lives with us. It’s complicated but mom hardly sees her and doesn’t know how to do all her meds and treatments. It’s important for your ex to be at every appointment and research things as well. You both have to be on the same page to take care of your young one. I’m my step daughter’s primary care giver so I completely understand. Myself, dad and grandma are the only ones who know how to do all her treatments and meds and I go to every single appointment and do independent research and jot down questions for the doctors all the time. It would be a lot to share custody equal with your ex I think because eventually there will be large machines to go back and forth and a bag full of meds that are all taken specific times multiple times a day. I’d just talk with him maybe at a doctors appointment or after one and explain why you feel you should be the primary residence but he can have visitation.
