Moving to the US with Cystic Fibrosis

Hi, I am a 28 year old female from the UK hoping to move to Florida next year to be with my long term partner. I feel like a fish in a very big ocean when it comes to medical care and medical insurance. My parents are so concerned that we won’t be able to afford it that they don’t actually want me to move to the US. Does anyone have any advice regarding treatment and insurance? Is it as expensive and unachievable as I am led to believe?

  1. This is a tough one to answer since it depends on a number of factors. It's good that you have a year to do your research. First, I would have your partner check to see if you can be covered under his health insurance plan. If not, these resources provide information on various health plans. There's contact information on each site to ask about coverage for non-citizens.
