Trikfta side effects

I’ve been on Trikfta since 2019 and I’ve developed cataracts on both eyes. I’m 41 years old which I was told this normally happens in children, adolescents, and young adults. Can anyone let me know if they’ve gotten cataracts from this medication. Or if you’ve had any other problems? It’s also not helped me like we thought it would. For me this medication has been nothing but problems

  1. Oh the side effects! I’m 48, been on Tri for about 1 1/2 years. My eyes are painfully dry and fatigued but no cataracts yet. It’s my anxiety that’s unbearable! I can’t hardly take it but I really love breathing good! I hope the good outweighs the bad for you

    1. I feel that!! It’s a totally different anxiety than I’ve experienced before! It’s hard to climb out your own mind! I have projects and crafts to busy my mind. I just know that I’m a burden to my husband since I don’t work anymore. That kills my pride and really flares up anxiety! So, I say, scream! Sometimes I do, I freaking scream, allow a few seconds of I can’t take it, scream, let the frustration out. We’re allowed to be frustrated, I think we all try so hard to be normal that we forget to allow ourselves to hate what is happening to us! I love my life and happy to be alive, but some days I scream at the ridiculousness that is my body! Your doing your best!!

    2. The guilt definitely feeds the anxiety. I have productivity guil. i always feel like i should be doing something. lol.

  2. Yes cataracts is a side effect of trikafta. I'm sorry you are going through this.

    1. I have not had any symptoms from Trikafta so far. It stinks that you do.

      1. How have you been feeling lately? Any fun summer plans? Talk soon! -Beth (Team Member)

    2. Hi. I'm feeling well. I am just stressing because my job changed our prescription plan and now they want 4,000.00 co pay for Trikafta. I have a good job as a PreK teacher and great health insurance. Vertex actually lowered the co pay from 7,000.00 to 4,000.00. I got help from Healtwell. They gave me 15,000.00 for the year to help with the co pay. They were awesome, but that will run out in like 3 months. So yeah. That's where I am. How are you?

      1. Oh my gosh, that must be so hard to deal with and think about. I wish you weren't having to go through all of this. It's so frustrating hearing how difficult it is for someone to get the medication they need, I wish there was a better way.
Ahh, Pre-K!! I was a teacher for many years before becoming a director of a preschool. Some of my greatest memories are from when I was in the classroom. It's so funny to me how I was able to wrangle a class of 4-5 year olds but my own kiddos (twins who are now 6) give me a run for my money on a daily basis 😀
