  1. Thanks for being here and sharing with us. I can hear how much this weighs on you, and I hate that you're in this situation. I'm hoping other community members will be able to chime in and share their thoughts and experiences, but in the meantime, I want to take a few moments to remind you that you always have to remember to put your well-being first. It sounds like you had a tough patch 8 months ago, being sick and going through the unknown. I can imagine that it was a double-edged sword when you got the cause of the issues. Thankful for an answer but sad for what must be done for your health. Re-homing a pet is never easy, but in your situation, needing to do so for your health and safety, there was no way around it. Not to sound silly, but I truly believe animals are so intelligent, and your cat understood why you had to do what you did. Try not to be so hard on yourself for this, and think of your health as the #1 priority.
To touch on the next part of your post, have you had an honest conversation with the person you're seeing and explained what the cat dander puts your body through? If you're up for it, please share a little more detail; hopefully, some others will be able to help shed some light with personal experiences. That said, I want to remind you (and anyone who may be reading) that your health is #1. And it's okay to set boundaries (https://cystic-fibrosis.com/living/setting-boundaries) and expect the people you surround yourself with to respect them. You have to be your own best advocate and fight for what is best. Sadly, not everyone will understand or appreciate that, and that's okay, but you can't put yourself second to anyone. Relationships can be complicated, especially when you're fighting a life-changing condition. Still, you deserve someone who will do their best to understand what you experience and who wants to help and support you to the best of their ability (https://cystic-fibrosis.com/living/finding-love-relationships). Sending you strength and support! -Beth (Team Member)
